Louise Zambartas – Head of Private Client Dept

Louise holds an LLB (Hons) in Law from Birmingham University. She passed the Law Society Finals in Newcastle and was admitted as a Solicitor of England and Wales in 1991. She was granted a Cyprus Bar License in 2004. She has previously worked at Varley Hibbs and Co Solicitors, Martineau Johnson Solicitors and Wright Hassell and Co Solicitors in the UK. She established the Law Offices of Louise Zambartas (now L.G. Zambartas LLC) after she relocated permanently to Cyprus. Louise is one of the leading sale and purchase property lawyers in Cyprus acting for both individual and corporate clients in Cyprus and abroad. Louise has also handled a number of large scale “off-plan” projects involving many of the major Cypriot property developers. With experience of property work, comes inevitable experience of property disputes. Louise is currently handling a large number of such cases, including several important class actions. She is also an expert on Cypriot Wills & Probate Law. Louise has developed an excellent reputation in her areas of expertise by offering quality legal advice and high professional standards combined with a strong emphasis on client care and attention.


George Zambartas - Head of Shipping and Corporate Law Dept

George holds a BA (Hons) in Law and Politics from the University of London’s Queen Mary College. He has extensive experience in Commercial Law and Cypriot Corporate Law as well as shipping, ship financing, maritime claims, ship management and purchase/sales of ships, including new builds. He has undertaken ship registration, re-flagging, re-naming and parallel registration in all major registries around the world. After heading up the Commercial Litigation Department of a Law Firm in the UK, he moved to Cyprus in 1999 to take up the position as in house Legal Advisor of a leading global Shipping Company. In August 2008 he left the niche corporate law/shipping law practice of Economides Dionysiou & Co to form Zambartas Law Offices. Some of his key areas of expertise are:

  1. Ship Finance; he has advised Shipping Companies, particularly in Russia and Ukraine seeking ship Finance from Western European Banks. He has given presentations on ship finance at International Shipping Conferences (link to presentations).
  2. Corporate Finance; he has provided legal opinions on matters of Cyprus Law to International Banks on high value transactions and drafted security documents compliant with Cyprus Law to facilitate the transaction.
  3. Acquisitions; he has considerable experience in advising and preparing the contractual documentation required to effect major cross border acquisitions for shipping and corporate clients.

Jeanette Truscott - Senior Lawyer and Head of Paphos Office

Jeanette completed a degree in Business Studies in the first instance, majoring in HR, but later moved on to complete a law conversion course. From there she successfully took her Bar exams. Post-qualification Jeanette specialized in employment law and employee relations (trade union law), and subsequently gained a Masters degree in this area from the University of Leicester.

Jeanette qualified and spent many years teaching law to both undergraduate students, including many from Greece and Cyprus, and to post-graduate management students, including the MBA programme and also short courses (Continuing Professional Education) for the legal profession in the south West of England. 

During her academic career Jeanette founded a Student Law Clinic, which was one of the first in the UK, having received a grant to research the concept in the USA for one month at UCon Law School – the University of Connecticut Law Faculty.  This meant that final year law students acted for local people on a pro-bono basis in a variety of matters where they had rights of audience. 

In 2001 Jeanette took early retirement from academia, but continued with her private legal consultancy work that had previously existed alongside her academic duties, in the area of employment law.  In particular she specialised in services to small to medium sized companies, as well as sub-contracting her expertise to other law firms in her locality in the South West of England.

Jeanette moved to Cyprus in April 2006, and her skills were transferred to the area of property, Wills and contract law generally. She joined L.G Zambartas LLC in October 2010 and has applied her skills and knowledge to the Cypriot legal system in order to be able to continue to both assist non-Cypriots with holiday home purchases and Paphos residents of all nationalities with their legal requirements.

Andrea Pavlou - Senior Lawyer

Andrea Pavlou is one of our most senior and experienced lawyers and has been practicing for over 12 years. Andrea specialises in all types of corporate, finance and shipping work and joined L.G Zambartas LLC in October 2011.

After obtaining her B.A (Hons) (2:1) in English Language and Literature from the University of Surrey, she attended the College of Law in London for two years before commencing her training contract and qualifying with the City of London International Law firm Clyde & Co. She then went onto work for the City of London Law firm, Stephenson Harwood specialising in corporate and ship finance work. When Andrea came to Cyprus in 2003, she headed up the legal department of an offshore ship management company in Limassol for one year and was then offered a position in 2004 as an Internal Legal Advisor with a major Cypriot public quoted company in Nicosia employing 8000 people world wide where she represented the Group’s shipping division and dealt with the legal aspects of all corporate and commercial issues arising from international transactions covering vessel financing, sale and purchase, chartering, joint ventures, mergers, acquisitions, sale and leaseback, tour operator agreements, oil and supply contracts, hedge funds, entity types and analysing contemporary and tax efficient company restructurings. 

Elena Pitsillidou – Head of Litigation

Elena graduated in Law with honors from Aristotle University at Thessaloniki in Greece in 2006. In 2007, she obtained her LL.M at the University of East London (UEL). She was admitted to the Cyprus Bar Association in 2008 and is a member of the Cyprus Bar Association. After spending 2 years working as a Litigation Lawyer for a leading Cypriot she joined L.G. Zambartas LLC in 2010.

She is an experienced civil litigator who has handled a wide range of property litigation, maritime disputes (including ship arrests), contract disputes and general commercial litigation (including injunctive work). Elena has also been instructed by leading shipping companies to represent their interests in high profile cases in the Cyprus Courts.

Sonia Ajini - Shipping and Corporate Law Legal Consultant

Sonia joined L.G. Zambartas LLC in February 2010. After studying Slovak Law at the University of Matej Bel of Slovakia where she obtained a Masters Degree in Law, she moved to Cyprus in 2003. In 2004 she completed a Doctorate Degree in International Law at the aforesaid university. She was working for a Cypriot shipowning and shipmanagement company and for an international maritime consultancy company, where she gained experience in various aspects of maritime law and the shipping industry. She also passed the Institute of Chartered Shipbrokers exams in 2005. In 2007 she also successfully completed a postgraduate Diploma in Maritime Law at the London Metropolitan University. She speaks Slovak, English and Czech and holds Slovakian nationality. Sonia is a Vice-President of WISTA Cyprus (Women’s International Shipping and Trading Association)

Vladyslav Markelov – Senior Legal Shipping Consultant

Vladyslav holds a Masters in Economics (Foreign Relations & Trade) from the University of Donetsk and a Postgraduate Diploma in Maritime Law from the London Metropolitan University.

In 1998 he worked for Azov Insurance Company and became head of the claims department dealing with claims, loss prevention and risk management arrangements. In 2002 he was head of the legal & insurance department for Donbasstranzitservice Ltd, specializing in maritime, insurance and commercial law. In 2007 he joined Maritime Consulting Agency Ltd as a Managing Director where he dealt with litigation, arbitrations, assessment of claims and recovery services. In 2011 Vladyslav relocated his Legal Consultancy Practice to Cyprus and joined L.G. Zambartas LLC as a Legal Consultant. Vladyslav speaks fluent Ukrainian, Russian and English.

Leda Kaloghirou - Senior Shipping and Corporate Consultant

Leda previously worked for one of the leading corporate law and shipping law firms in Cyprus and has over 30 years experience in Cyprus Shipping (registration, transfer, renaming, sale/deletion, re-flagging of ships), as well as the full range of Cyprus Company matters.

She also specialises in translation work (from English into Greek and vice versa) of  various legal documents, such as Memoranda and Articles of Association (both  Cypriot and foreign companies), Court Documents and Affidavits, Contracts, Agreements, Mortgage Deeds, Deeds of Covenants, Guarantees etc.

Anthia Savvidou - Junior Lawyer  

Anthia holds an LLB with American Legal Studies graduating with First Class Honours. She then continued her studies earning an LLM in International Commercial Law specialising in Shipping from the University of Birmingham and was admitted to the Cyprus Bar Association in June 2011. She has previously worked as an intern in an American Law Firm dealing with complex issues of personal injury and wrongful death claims. Anthia’s current areas of practice include civil litigation representing clients in a wide range of cases  including  maritime claims,  property disputes, commercial and banking matters. Anthia has  also  advised clients  on a variety of  complex  commercial  matters including  the  application of EU Directives into Cyprus law, preparing detailed  advice in relation to the risk of piercing the corporate veil in Cyprus and in respect to  many other  various  corporate  , commercial and shipping matters.

Liz Photiou – Land Registry Clerk

Liz holds a BTEC in Business Studies, Economics, Finance, Communication, Word Processing and Statistics. She has previously worked as Department Manager for Berketex in London, Accounts Assistant at SSI Continuity Services Limited/Eurest Support Services International in Cyprus and as Senior HR Specialist for Amdocs Developments Limited in Cyprus.
